Profile:

Anastrozole is an extremely powerful anti-estrogen officially belonging to the Aromatase Inhibitor (AI) family. Developed in the early 1990’s by Zenaca Pharmaceuticals and released in 1995 under the trade name Arimidex, this is perhaps the most commonly used AI and one of the most common anti-estrogens on the market. Arimidex has proven to be very effective in breast cancer treatment, even more so than traditional Nolvadex (Tamoxifen Citrate), and is a favorite anti-estrogen among many anabolic steroid users. Countless anabolic steroid users rely on Arimidex for on cycle estrogenic protection. Many anabolic steroids have the ability to aromatase and lead to excess estrogen, which in turn can lead to some of the most commonly associated side effects of anabolic steroid use.

      Treating certain types of breast cancer in women who have been through menopause, including women with disease progression after tamoxifen therapy. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

      Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor. It works by lowering blood estradiol concentrations, which may decrease the size and growth of the tumor.

Effect:

1. As an anti-estrogen, Arimidex is valuable to the breast cancer patient as many forms of breast cancer feed off of the estrogen hormone. While perhaps an oversimplification, by administering Arimidex the effect starves the cancer. F
2. For the anabolic steroid user, the effects of Arimidex are greatly appreciated in its ability to protect against estrogenic related side effects.
3. By including Arimidex in an anabolic steroid cycle that contains aromatizing steroids, the individual can protect against gynecomastia and water retention. This will also protect against high blood pressure.
4. In the case of low testosterone treatment, it’s often not enough. However, it can still be beneficial in conjunction with exogenous testosterone therapy in protecting against estrogenic side effects.

Side effects:

      Back, bone, breast, joint, or muscle pain; constipation; cough; diarrhea; dizziness; flu-like symptoms (eg, muscle aches, tiredness); hair loss; headache; hot flashes; loss of appetite; mild stomach pain; nausea; sore throat; stomach upset; trouble sleeping; vaginal dryness; vomiting; weakness; weight gain.

Dosage:

      Most who supplement with Arimidex will be doing so for the prevention of side-effects while on cycle or to tighten up their physique for a physique based competition by reducing estrogen in the body. Most men will find 0.5mg every other day to be a good starting point while on cycle if it is needed for side-effect prevention with 1mg every other day generally being the most anyone will ever need for this purpose. However, if side-effects begin to manifest, particular Gynecomastia, many find supplementing with 1mg every day for a few weeks to be useful in combating this enemy; however, for this purpose we would in most cases recommend the slightly stronger AI Letrozole but Arimidex will often suffice. However, many bodybuilders will necessarily increase the dose to 1mg every day the final 10-14 days before the show in order to ensure they are as hard and water free as possible. However, we cannot recommend anyone supplement with this compound at that high of a dose for an extended period of time, as such dosing for extended periods would be too much estrogen suppression.

      Women in the physique sports world also sometimes supplement with Arimidex to provide a dryer and harder look but this will generally only occur a few weeks out from competition.
